Just a few tips to protect your online identity, here are the most common ways of being a victim of online fraud on the internet. Do not respond to emails claiming to be from your bank or any other online company if you have not contacted them first by sending a request for them to contact you. Most fishing is done be sending an email requesting your online banking security information. You would be suprised how many customer enter there data only to find there account empty in a few days. If you need to download software check online its is a safe application ei no spyware included etc. Do not randomly click on links in emails or online until you have read the information and come to the conclusion that it seems safe. Use your common sense, if your computer data is valuable back it up and dont let the children play on the computer, you dont know what sites are being visited and whats been downloaded. Use a good Anti Virus and Firewall, keep it up to date and make sure its running all the time in the background. You could also consider a Spyware removal application, Spyware seems to be on the increase compared to Viruses at the moment so the there may be a higher treat from Spyware. Check Antivirus sites on a regular bases to get the latest information on new threats. Following these rules will certainly cut down your exposure to internet threats of spamming, fishing and identity theft. |
